Structural Engineer
Committee member – Engineering Heritage Panel (WA)
David has experience in the design and construction of buildings and other structures. He specialises in engineering to preserve, maintain and adapt existing buildings. Aspects of this work include investigating the condition of buildings and structures, appraising structural adequacy, specifying requirements for repair and/or strengthening and administering construction contracts. David has worked on a range of structures in WA, from Victorian timber and masonry buildings to more recent structures in steel, concrete and masonry. He sits on the Engineering Heritage Panel (WA) which works to recognise and promote the state’s engineering heritage.
David maintains a strong interest in cultural heritage, including art, literature and history. He is interested in the way that cultural heritage situates peoples, influences their beliefs and guides their decisions. He values our built environment and the merits of preserving and adapting buildings that connect us to a broader history of people and events.
